Idk there are def people taking the clanker thing to far/ wanting to say slurs (esp using real peoples names like rosa parks that’s awful). But I think there’s a good chunk of people who are kind of poking fun at how absurd racism is/ was, how absurd homophobia is, venting frustration at Ai generally, and also kind of being ironic about how easy it is to fall into the “trap” of “blame a minority for your own failings”.
It is super nuanced tho bc robots aren’t people, Ai actually IS taking jobs or at least giving companies a reason to downsize staff (unlike whatever rhetoric is out there about immigrants), and it’s terrible for the environment. So I could def see where the joke falls flat for people. It’s kinda like how the zootopia racism metaphor doesn’t work super well since the minority in that movie actually was predatory in the past as a justification for them being the other/ having stereotypes vs IRL where racism is based on arbitrary characteristics.
