Dudeee i was literally talking with my friend about this!! There’s a few reasons I particularly dislike this view about being “decent at art”. One, who really defines what is good art? Sure, if you’re trying for realism that is going to take a LOT of practice to achieve but it’s most defin not innate.Two, assuming an artist’s skill is innate most likely discounts years of work they put in to improve at their craft. Three, it’s just straight up pessimistic - if you have specific vision on how you view “good art” I believe no matter your position you can build your way up to be proficient at that style of art. It makes me sad to see someone give up so quickly! So, ultimately, it’s not a good excuse to use ai. It just shows an unwillingness to try and learn and practice something. An unwillingness to be, in one’s own eyes, bad at something until you get better.
