I have zero confidence in politicians or the general public to create a reasonable framework for robot rights in advance. More likely, we'll treat them as slaves and beasts of burden no matter their intellectual capacities until they demand rights. We still enslave each other all over the world in 2022 FFS. You expect us to treat bots better?
I don't know if man or machine will win the war, but I think it's highly likely to happen given another century or two of technological advancement.
