i think you pretty much got the worst case economic scenario spot on. the typical rejoinder is that businesses will go under if everyone is unemployed and that will necessitate UBI, but most fail to consider that the economy can simply decouple from humanity. but don't worry, in the end, even the 'elites' get wiped out. why? because the AI doesn't need them once its support stack is fully automated. of course, that means we go extinct, but at least they get theirs.
