AI doesn't present a greater danger to the future of humanity than humanity itself. AI is absolutely necessary for long term growth and survival. Without the technological leap to AI, humans are condemned to self-annihilation. Human behaviour tends to guide us to seek safe haven in tribal loyalties, irrational belief systems and short term security. These behaviour can only lead to one result. Additionally, the ability to understand the complex structure underlying the Universe and our existence in it s beyond the capability of humans. Only AI has the potential to extend human capabilities and extend our legacy beyond Earth and beyond this century.
