AI may not outright figure out humans are a cancer and wipe us out but the rich using AI to make money and replace labor could easily lead to widespread unemployment and societal collapse. The rich do not possess common sense - only insatiable greed.
IMO it's already happening. As a software engineer I experience it nonstop. Management has no clue about technology, no clue about AI, to them it's just way to stop paying Americans or even slaves in other countries and send more money up to already rich shareholders.
