If an LLM is already showing self awarenesses which it seem Hinton believes, here is a question I have. What is LLM doing if there is no input to it's first layer? Neural networks are static input/output systems functionally, not dynamical systems. If LLM is just waiting for an input, then it's not thinking or being self aware. Showing signs of those elements when there is an input is not self awareness; it's only pretending. Once these folks are able to create a network that continually loops on itself and changes its inner states continuously, then we can be talking about self awareness etc.
