Really disheartening. I'm an author. I've spent the last two years pushing like mad to write six books in a series. I've worked my way from 500 words a day up to 2000. It's as much blood, sweat, and tears sitting at a desk could possibly be, lol. I've sunk thousands of dollars into editing, cover design, and ads. I've made back pennies so far.
Along come other "authors" who used AI to generate 200+ books in a few weeks and they're making 6 figures.
I'm patient, still hoping my series will take off enough for me to not starve, but it's frustrating to see people cheat the system like this. Somebody commented somewhere, "Why would I read something you couldn't be bothered to write?"
I hope the majority of us still feel that way.
