IMO, whilst AI could bring certain improvements - such as medical breakthroughs and energy efficiency measures, the overall impact of AI will be detrimental to society, for the reasons outlined by Bernie, especially regarding the loss of jobs. Governments exist to look after the interests of the broader population, not just a small section. They need to enact firm measures and strong regulations to reduce the negative impacts of AI.
