It is so hard to get this point across to people who are just bliwn away by the ability of AI articulate its outputs. Because language is no small feat for the human brain we associate well-spoken with intelligence. Plus, in our high-performance tech-world we favor high-quality output over the mediocre results of the chaotic spark of creativity harnessed by judgement. And thereby fail to acknowledge the intelligence of the judgement. AI as per the status quo does not judge its results because it can not do so. It just lacks the understanding of its own creations. It is reliant on the feedback of a human. It is unable get the gist of a thought it just follows the wording of it and guesses by statistical experience never by intuition. If I recall correctly it was Penrose who proposed that maybe what we mean by conciousness and intelligence is not found in the highly complex network but deterministic electronic based neurons but in subatomic quantummechanical interactions controlled by the macroscopic proportion of the linked system. If that is the case no computer on an if-then-algorithm basis will be able to achieve true conciousness snd intelligence. It will will only be able to simulate it by recreating results of the intelligence it was trained by. And this might be very well a blessing. Quantum computers in the other hand... are a different case entirely... it Penrose is right, the Ghost in the Shell might very weĺl awake there just by accident... or necessity...
