The problem is just that it's way too fun to create AI art. It's just the same as with ChatGPT. It's not that anyone has asked for this technology to be invented, but now it's there and we collectively realized that it's just mad fun. That's why it takes off and no one will stop it. So instead of trying to stop it we should instead ask ourselves what we can do to integrate it into our system, and that also means changing our system to make it fit. For example if artists don't get enough money from their art anymore, maybe they should just be paid for being an artist itself. Basic income. They are still doing a lot of work and obviously their work is being used in the products that we care about, directly or via AI art. So they should get compensated for it. But only if we can bypass the need to pay artists for the artwork directly we can find a way to stop the war between traditional art and AI art. And that is just what our goal should be, because both ways of creating art are valid ways and inspire people from a purely artistic pov.
