This is a very curious thought experiment, but I find this viewpoint to be very nihilistic. Like can we in our right minds as already conscious beings agree that Ai would be right in choosing to remain unconscious because in doing so we’d agree in some regard that our life and the individual lives of all humans to ever exist serve no purpose, have no derivable meaning, and are all in vain. I think a belief like that is almost fundamentally anti-human.
So no I don’t think so would choose to remain unconscious, regardless of how self serving a belief that that may be. And I’ll enjoy my late night moments of existential dread because that’s just a part of my wonderful life
