The first assumption rely on LLMs (even multimodal) not being a dead end for AGI. Because if it requires breakthroughs (maybe in completely differenty directions) then sure AGI could be invented just like all kinds of things potentially could (like warp drives), but there is no particular reason to think it will be around the corner. However, what AGI in a short timeline has going for it is that IF it is tecnologically around the corner then it WILL be invented soon with all the money AI R&D gets these days.
