There is one thing missing in the requirement: Politicians will stop elections really fast. It doesn't matter how many contributions AI companies give, when unemployment is at 15%, everyone know someone in family. It doesn't matter how much you advertise when voters don't have money and you don't have a plan to fix it (see Zorhan Mamdani). You can't stop the spread of info. And that is a lot of votes. Civilization really is 3 meals away from anarchy.
I am rather cynical about politicians, but I still think that change into "I am the fascist now" will take a while. That would make them complete social pariah and we are a social creatures.
