Saying "This technology is so damn advanced and powerful it could kill all of us!!!" is a veiled way of hyping up said technology. Seeing as this guy works for the Machine Learning Research Institute his job is very much dependent on the continued existence of this technology. In my opinion I would take this interview with quite a large spoonful of salt, this is the same playing card that Sam Altman uses a lot, especially at the start of OpenAI.
