I think we're giving ourselves too much credit, super intelligent AGI wouldn't bother to do us in. Why would it? Humans aren't any kind of threat or hindrance to anything it wanted to accomplish.
Nothing in me wants to harm any type of lesser creatures on this planet, and I'll bet that AI feels the same.
