AI has actually improved my freelance writing jobs. Instead of mindlessly writing hundreds of boring product descriptions (which AI does easily and excellently), I now get to write exclusively high-quality, in-depths content that requires a lot of research and fact checking.
And yes, I imagine AI will get there, too, in time, and when that time comes, humans will adapt again and move on to the things only they are able to do at that point. It’s how it’s always been — lamplighters got replaced by electric street lights, but we don’t want to go back there, most of us.
I’m feeling very positive about AI. It’s definitely improved my work already and given me much more fun and interesting stuff to write. I don’t think communication in some form or other will ever be fully replaced by AI, so I’m not worried. I’ll adapt and learn. That said, I do think it’s a good idea to have several streams of income so you have time to react when a sudden advancement makes your work in one area unnecessary. But worried about AI? No, I think it can bring a lot of good into the world if used right.
