For the upcoming 1-2 years, AI will not steal your job, but a highly skilled engineer that knows how to use AI efficiently and can be 10x more efficient, will take the jobs of 9 people.
In 5-10 years, since the growth is exponential, I am in no position to make an educated guess. Maybe even our economic and democratic, legal and health system will completely change.
This I'm telling you as a Software coordinator with 12+ years of experience that has worked with automotive engineering and software for 5 transnational companies, a diploma in social psychology and currently studying cognitive science.
Be prepared for everything. Finish paying your house, invest in assets that won't devaluate as easy, and start learning skills for jobs that most people would agree they prefer having human interaction (nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, plumbers, handymen, etc).
