Cyber-terrorism is an overlooked issue with the driverless trucks.
Imagine some 17 year old kid finding a backdoor into a data center for the load boards of these trucks and forcing them all to some random patch of farm land in the middle of nowhere to get stuck in. That is one of the best case scenarios, too.
I could see thieves just spoofing routes for trucks and making it appear the truck is still enroute but in reality, they have the truck automatically drive into an empty loot so they could loot the vehicle and it would take like three days before the dispatcher knows the truck even stopped.
Then of course, you have China, Russia, North Korea, ect. It wouldn't be too hard for them to inject their own virus into databanks and grind freight to a halt. Imagine them getting a hold of the President's planned motorcade route and then routing 55,000 driverless trucks with safety features turned off VIA custom firmware update.
You will *HAVE* to have drivers in the truck with a brake pedal that overrides everything.
