Automation isn't scary. It is how the ruling class and wealthy class see workers as scary. I don't know anyone who aspires to a job. They aspire to a way of life. Automation could provide that way of life to everyone without the need for slaving away in a truck, factory, or office. Instead it just makes all of those jobs worse because more people are clamoring for few jobs and reducing the bargaining power of all workers.
Tax machine labor like we tax human labor and watch the equation change overnight.
