I think artists are only now feeling the same pressure that the blue collar/industrial industry has dealt with due to the onset and advancement of automation. I'm a CDL trucker and have my own opinions about autonomous vehicle development.. Though I use generative AI myself, for personal use, I don't post it anywhere.
AI is a useful tool, but also controversial at the same time.. especially in the aspect of diminishing skilled trades/arts.
Just the story of John Henry the rail worker in the early industrial revolution replaying itself. In my experience being PC/Tech enthusiast and having used generative AI over the last 3 years or so. It's going to be an inevitable demise of the industry, unless artists could somehow get regulators/lawmakers on their side to ban it.. But that won't happen as corporate interest weilds far too much influence and power in politics and regulation. I mean look at the valuation of some of these tech giants, their value is almost stating to exceed the GDP of some first world nations..
