The techbros still haven't managed to come up with AI robots that can pick crops, thereby eliminating the need for cheap illegal immigrant labor that the agricultural industry can exploit. They haven't even invented robots that can give your car an oil change & rotate your tires in under 30 min, -- that would at least save regular folks time & money. I wouldn't mind seeing those jobs go away so long as the UBI payout is sufficient to enable them to live comfortably (which $1000/mo. will NOT do). But AI is faulty as fuck & hasn't improved as rapidly as promised. It can disobey programming, it can refuse to follow commands or shut itself down when it's told to. Nobody has managed to fix those glitches. Which makes AI very dangerous.
AI is never going to replace your child's kindergarten teacher, or your gynecologist, or your hairdresser, or the farmers who raise the organic/pasture-raised foods you buy at Whole Foods. So why are these tech companies doing deals with each other to buy & sell GPUs that can't be used yet because the data centers with the electricity & water needed to run those GPUs haven't been built yet? That's like selling tires to a toddler who can barely walk, much less drive. Make it make sense.
The Magnificent 7 tech companies, some of which are doing bs deals with each other to make themselves look profitable on paper, are now providing a huge share of total US stock market value. That sounds like a bubble to me. And the gov't isn't doing a damn thing about it to avoid another crash like in 2008.
