Generative visual AI models do not require the use of copyrighted material -- it's just faster and cheaper to use (abuse) it to train models in the shortrun. Not suggesting that's ok, just that it is a transitory problem the technology will mature out of pretty quickly (legal exposure being the main driver). There are commercially available models out now that explicitly address this -- take Adobe Firefly for example:
'Adobe Firefly trains on Adobe Stock imagery in accordance with the Stock Contributor License agreement, openly licensed content, and public domain content with an expired copyright. This means that Firefly is designed to be safe for commercial use and Firefly outputs are now available to be used for commercial purposes'. Adobe also has a compensation model for the work used in its Stock catalogue that is used in model training. This seems to address all of the concerns raised in the video.
