AI is a smokescreen for what those massive data centers consuming all that electricity, and water are doing. The first smokescreen for them was bitcoin mining. They said it was to earn money to handle the blockchain of unbreakable encryption for money transfers for the rich to conceal transactions mostly from the taxman. We already have unbreakable encryption that will run on a laptop, and the taxman has the keys to bitcoin encryption by law. The current smokescreen of AI is like... What? All that massive data center expense to make AI porn? Really? That's what I see it mostly being used for. Doesn't take those huge data centers to do it.
The threat is those data centers have the capacity to store the data from the minds of some rich a-holes in a bid for immortality. The step after getting it out of the brain is to force it in to somebody else's brain.
