As someone who focused in AI for my comp sci degree, Chatbots and Gen AI are two of the absolute dumbest and worst areas in AI to go in on if you want to ACTUALLY be productive with AI and ACTUALLY achieve a greater "AGI"-esk type system. LANGUAGE is inherently unstable, Because you can be wrong in language just as easily as you can be right. You can be good at language and still be stupid, wrong, and dangerous. Language Models are just an EXTREMELY STUPID way to go about using AI to do things. And Gen AI doesn't even HAVE a real use case in my mind because you have NO CONTROL over the output of AI, you give an input, you get an output, What you get in the output is completely f*ck all in terms of predictability. And the "Good" thing about AI (it's ability to learn and adapt and change) is also ONE OF THE WORST THINGS ABOUT AI if you don't know what the f*ck you're doing because you can take something working correctly and BREAK IT - This can be any thing, any part of the system, at any time, and researchers have proven it's actually fairly easy to manipulate this with little data.
