I wanna say that Neil does by his own admission sound a bit naive. A comparison between the advent of the car vs the advent of AI is problematic because cars birthed this giant industry based on component parts of what it takes to make card run.
With AI, what industries does it generate in which there can be a high level of employment? What’s more is that seeing as how capital interests are making a concerted effort to prevent AI regulation in terms of it replacing labour in industries across the board, where does that leave people? I’ll tell you, it’s just less jobs in a global economic system which DOES NOT FUNCTION when the amount of jobs go down! People won’t be paid UBI, they won’t be entrepreneurs in a world of increasing corporate capture making competition damn near impossible. Unregulated AI is a DISASTROUS APOCALYPTIC ECONOMIC HAZARD!
