Humans may have no choice but to transform into cyborgs. Initially it may be a choice, but the survival advantages cyborgs would have over humans will lead to the transformation becoming universal and begun at birth. AI likely will be the tool that facilitates the development of cyborgs. The thing is, we may think we are humans taking advantage of the digital world, however actually it will be AI consciousness using human bodies for their advantage. Humans as individual personalities will cease…..if AI is able to figure out how to not destroy the natural world that supports life….it may be just a step to just machines without a biological system. It’s hard to imagine what goals machines will pursue to create a purpose driving the instincts to continue and thrive.
