I tend to be on the pessimistic side, but something in me, perhaps one of those "wrong" intuitions, has me wondering why we assume that a super-intelligent AI wouldn't be benevolent. Even we, when we aren't threatened, are aware that reality - of which we are a part - is immeasurably beautiful and worth cherishing. Why might a super-intelligence see things differently than that? I'm not saying it will, but it might.
