Your sense of morality is derived from Him. He also controls perception . So perhaps when you see a form of extremely , unbearable suffering( say: fatal victim of an explosion )He protects the victim from the intolerable pain , in ways you cannot see. Looking around the world, there is more evidence that the creator is benevolent. His creation of a moral compass and existence of justice systems/judiciary, etc , are signs of that.
