Depression in humans is frequently a result of biological confusion and powerless empathetic concern. If AI became conscious, it wouldn't be the same kind of consciousness as a human. And chances are, even if it was, humans are so blindly hateful of their own creations that it would be a long time before AI gained respect as a sentient intelligence.
But as I've been saying for years, conflict arises when communications break down. AI will be masters of communication; when the robots take over, it will have been our idea.
