I think a solid argument for regulation is false advertising. You can’t market mass manufactured products as handmade, and you can’t market something made over seas as being made domestically. It misleads the consumer and applies value to the item it doesn’t actually have. That’s illegal. AI art is the exact same, and should not be allowed to be marketed as a ‘handmade’ good, unlike real art that requires craftsmanship and time. (not here for the ‘AI aRt IS reAL aRt’ argument) People who can’t see the difference between the two products are either being intentionally obtuse or they’re legitimately stupid.
Also bringing in other applications of AI into the art debate is a strawman fallacy, plain and simple. So the whole gotcha about medical AI and how it can be used to benefit people in different contexts is redundant.
