I think there is a disconnect here. When I use AI to make images, I do it because they look cool. But I would say actual 'art' _does_ require some meaning or emotion or something behind it, which AI can't do. I think what most people are using AI art for is for creating images that they couldn't make themselves, which is completely fine.
I think this distinction is something most people on both sides of the argument probably don't see. At least, that's my opinion.
