I'm late to the party so I'm mostly writing this for myself, but, thoughts about an AI (or an android?) taking my job and not allowing me to be the person I am:
No I would absolutely not be OK. My work includes helping elderly and/or disabled people alongside some absolutely fantastic nurses, and it brings me so much meaning and joy in my life that I'm not sure I could live without it. Like, actually couldn't live without. I get depressed very very easily and before I got this job I was in a really bad state thinking about ------- myself. But feeling like I mean something to other people keeps me going.
Bonus thought: If having that human connection is so important to me, a healthy 30-something guy who regularly sees his family and goes out, then how important is it for the people who are mostly stuck in one building, at worst only seeing the nurses that visit on a schedule? The nurses that some people want to replace with machines?
Bad times.
