The cruel irony about suggesting a “career change” for artists is that AI would be much better suited for menial jobs like plumbing, which most people don’t want to do. Automation has reduced the strain and risk involved with many jobs while improving their output.
“But what about the jobs?” Think bigger. Humans historically and almost intrinsically create art when they have time to breathe and be themselves. Squeezing all of their time out of them with menial jobs for profit takes away that time, creating an artificial need for more “efficient” art. Even despite all of that, humans have always and always will continue making art for themselves because of that innate motivation.
Ultimately, like everything else about the human experience we will continue to spiral into dystopia until the focus is driven away from profit and infinite growth, no matter the cost. Slow down, create, build community. Be a fucking human.
