Tesla’sw Full Self Driving relies solely on cameras intended to imitate the human eye — smart, but limited. Without thermal imaging, many small animals such as hedgehogs remain completely invisible, especially at night. A real breakthrough would be a system that surpasses human vision instead of merely copying it.
Developers carry a great responsibility — even toward the smallest living creatures. The decisions you make today will determine whether tomorrow’s system protects life or allows millions of small animals to die. Even a hedgehog should be recognized by such a system.
And if you decide against using thermal imaging, I would appreciate it if you at least accounted for small animals in your AI model architecture. That alone could save at least half of the animals currently being killed on the roads.
