Our current form of AI is not conscious. It has no continuous connection to the external world and cannot learn from its experiences, only learn from training data over a long time period. Also chatbots have no agency by design, use randomness and statistics to generate a response. Setting the randomness to zero would cause them to produce a completely deterministic output. This isn't what we characterize as consciousness in the typical manner.
