Ai art will probably be really bad for digital art in terms of shortening jobs for real artists but it could be really good for the art scene too for a couple of reasons. Ai art could be a great tool to use for reference for artists. If an artist isn’t finding the right reference then they could use air to generate a good reference they need for the art they are making. And the other reason it could be good is dependent on what you like about art. Recently, on sites like art station and Pinterest there has been a lot of hyper realistic character and landscape concept art that would be great for games or movies but lack any ounce of emotion. Nowadays, People are drawn towards things that are technically good rather than paintings that is poetic or soulful or emotional or something that captures real life impressionistically for example. I think this has made it hard for incredible artist that have great talent but maybe not in a technical sense. Ai could take over freelance realistic art and therefore there will be no need to create something that’s hyper realistic and people will appreciate things that have an interesting style or I guess more human. Ofc that’s a double edged sword because some people love to make a realistic space helmet and ai could take over the job opportunity for that. Imo I genuinely think that ai could make for some more interesting ideas in the art scene but I do think it’s way more damaging than good.
