Yes, that's what i think too, AI will help us cover more space. As we do have a lot of knowledge already. I mean, a lot of our inventions are not really new things but rather stuff that someone smart who has devoted a lot of time to their activity and so also read a lot, stumbled on to something already known. And chance has it that now you can see it from another perspective and realize a new use. Or someone stumbled on to several obscure ideas and themselves now being the common factor liking all those separate ideas can draw a new conclusion. So they are not someone making something out of nothing but just a way how we recycle stuff while giving the impression of novelty.
So AI can totally be that link. A valuable tool which permits us to see from a broader perspective and link known data to get a different picture. It's pretty much statistics. I say it always lies because you can't ever take all factors in consideration and so as long you have parts that are not counted, your end result will always be skewed. So AI can help counting more factors, to process more data and find out new things. And all from the data we already have laying around and being ignored buried by time.
