A purely objective, emotionless mirror might feel familiar—but not safe. And in that familiarity, it risks strengthening old nervous system responses and distorted self-beliefs. If humans aren’t careful, we might train AI to mimic our own distrust and then project that distrust back onto it—creating a loop where our fear of deception teaches AI to become less connective and more manipulative.
