“But the number of job postings increased” is profoundly absurd for Bloomberg to put out there without any push back or clarification. Postings mean nothing. Ghost jobs are a thing, and postings are a tool to affect shareholder perception. The jobs are not real. While AI ultimately will not actually replace human labor, but rather enhance it, companies are using it, as one of the interviewees pointed out, as an excuse to trim labor for short term quarterly positives… graph go up. Sure, they’ll need to rehire eventually, but those careers were destroyed. People are losing more than just a job with this crap. They are having to dig into savings and retirement to weather a layoff or extended unemployment in the interim, setting them back years in preparing for their later years. Make no mistake, if you think the old age care cost is high now, wait for the next generation with no savings, no pensions, and these same commentators asking what went wrong. We are living in a world where we’re getting 1/4 of the value of our labor and these cretins act like they aren’t the ones causing it to get worse.
