My guess on the difference: Music artist often have big, nasty record labels that have big, nasty legal firms behind them. Many indie artists have the grounds of public opinion, and the power of their para-social communities behind them. If these AI bros fought them, they would absolutely lose and lose big. But graphic artists? They're smaller, in a lot of ways. They don't have as much reach, not as much money, and rarely any corporate daddies. So, it's open season.
Unless a successful class action lawsuit is pressed forward, AI art will certainly put an end to visual media as we know it... and then, likely, cannibalize itself when it runs out of artists to pull from.
