The AI software flagged McDaniel because the neighborhood he lived in is the single most violent in Chicago, accounting for 10% of all city shootings. He already had a police record, involving drugs and gambling, he wasn't randomly chosen. Predictive policing may be a bad idea, given the state of AI technology, and arresting someone because software thinks he might commit a crime is unconstitutional, but AI is not racist. That's like saying your cell phone or computer is racist.
