The real horrifying part to me is that AI is only being pursued *because* it can replace creative jobs that humans generally like doing (coding, writing, art, etc). And this is actually the point. All these companies are heavily invested in it not because they care about making anyone's life better. They want to remove the expensive humans that they currently have to share some of their wealth with. If AI was being engineered to sweep floors or clean toilets or fold laundry, you wouldn't really see anyone complaining about it. Heck, people would probably be thinking "man, when can i get one of those laundry-folding robots!" But that's not the point. The point is explicitly to remove the parts of your life that you don't mind doing and make you spend even more time doing the things you don't want to do (as that will be the only way for you to survive). The point is, to put it bluntly, to return to a feudal state where the owner class rules and everyone else services them by doing the tasks that are 'low skill' enough that replacing you isn't a cost at all, and might actually be a cost savings (since it doesn't take much to learn how to fold laundry). As a particularly dark point - the nazis saved jewish people who could perform artistically or scientifically (They let Heisenberg even teach the banned 'jewish sciences'). But if they have no need of humans at all to do these things, why would they have saved them at all? They wouldn't.
