I've argued AI in all its forms. The thing is... Being against image generative AI as an art creative tool is classist, ableist, and uninformed. How is it classist? Some arguments do stand on the "I put in the work. I went to school." arguments. You might not, but it HAS been argued. How is it ableist? I have watched all disabilities create art. That does not mean that all disabilities can. Taking "I'm disabled and I can" as a stance is taking AWAY that they can't. This is the ableism mentality that all differently abled people deal with. Just because you are also, doesn't mean you are immune from that thinking. How is it uninformed? Well, first, it doesn't steal from artists. People do. They have to prompt it or use seed photos to get those desired results. Second, as a tool, ALL technological advances have fought to be considered art. You yourself use digital programs. Well... Guess what? CGI and digital programs were just as attacked as AI is today. And you might not know it, but they almost ended Disney... But instead of turning their back and railing against the inevitable, they opened a new department and trained their animators to become proficient on the new tech. We all need to remember that art changes, is always being exploited, and has always survived anyway. As new laws help protect all artists, this new tech will find its niche, and that will happen FASTER if we can stop fighting amongst ourselves and fight against the actual issues... Like corporate exploitation and purposeful plagiarism and copyright infringement. ❤
