Hi, I am disabled. I'm autistic and have aphantasia and very poor spatial reasoning. I use ai generated art as a way to see what I read. I am not a complete apologist. It's not ethical, it is stealing. It also is extremely resource intensive.
I don't know if anyone cares about my philosophy on it, but as far as I am concerned if you can afford to hire an artist, you shouldn't be using ai image generation. If you are part of an underserved group using it as a tool to access something that everyone else has, I am all for it - but not without the understanding that it's costing someone.
