It only seems fast now because printing more chips is predictable and only depends on financing and production capacity. That we know how to do.
We just don’t know how to do AI yet. This is brute forcing flawed ideas which do not lead to some Godly AI. Thinking that reasoning and intelligence pops out from nth order artifacts separated from the real world is hype. Or, that it has limitless real world applications based on text slop in the Internet. We are at the stage of better internet search, and usefulness extracted from outputs. This why we have not seen some kind of economic change in correlation to the energy put into the system. The connection to the real world is weak. It just isn’t in the text.
