You all *almost* got to the end-game regarding AI taking over jobs and what happens to everyone once they are all put out of work. You touched on UBI, but there was some push back in the form where does the government get the money for that when they don't have a massive base of working stiffs to tax and that the corporations are going to push back on being the new taxation target that supports the UBI. Corporations are going to (have to) accept being the target of taxation as a result of self-preservation. Corporations exist, under our current consumer-based socio-economic model, at the pleasure of consumers. If consumers stop consuming from a corporation, it dies. If there are no more consumers because nobody has work and therefore (lacking a UBI type of income model) no money to consume, the corporations die. The entire economy dies. Corporations will have to capitulate to being the funders of UBI in order to provide consumers with the means to consume and keep them alive. But what's the point you ask. If a corporation is just giving the consumer money to give back to it, why bother? How does the corporation excel/expand? Corporations will supply the UBI funding, knowing that all of the other corporations are doing the same thing and will compete to earn more of the dollars of the consumers that are being supplied by the other corporations. Competition will drive them try to earn $2 ($3, $4, etc.) from consumers for every $1 they pay out.
