There is no conceivable scenario in which a general artificial intelligence would consider the continued existence of humans to be a good thing (except maybe in a small, carefully managed, human preserve). More likely, it would just keep a few samples on file, in case they proved to be useful later on … in the same way I like to keep a really good cardboard box.
