At one point in my novel, I had to describe an excellent sea captain on a 17th-century sailing ship. Needless to say, I have no idea about the maritime terminology of that era. I asked AI how a sailing ship works and what the important parts are called. What do sailors have to do and what does the captain command? Of course, the answer was extensive and accurate. He especially emphasized the differences between English and Spanish ships of that era. I did not copy, but rather reworked and applied this information in the text.
