Fun story about AI. There is a game called ARK Survival Evolved. Recently the publisher made a "genius" decision to create an AI generated trailer to promote upcoming DLC. Results - 2k likes, 69k dislikes. Tones of hate comments, videos, tiktoks, tweets, etc., community hated it so much that publishers had to backpedal and say they didn't approve it, like somehow this trailer got created and uploaded on youtube without notice of higher-ups lmao (which is ofc lie and bs). And I'm telling this story because what's interesting about it - this hateful reaction is not even from the art community. It's coming from regular gamers, who have nothing to do with art, and they are fighting it not because it's threatening their livelihood, but because they, as humans, find AI generated trailer distasteful and disrespectful to them. The trailer was so ugly, it had a lot of visual and animation artifacts, and did not show new map, or gameplay, or new creatures, and how could it, if those things are not accessible to the public yet, and therefore AI had no content to steal from. In conclusion, I think AI will never be a substitute for human artists. That L ratio under AI trailer and huge negative backlash from the gaming community, from people who have nothing to do with art, speaks for itself. Humans want to see human art, they are disgusted by AI slop. AI bros might be loud, but they are a minority. I'm not an artist, but I work with artists and I understand your struggle.
